The Covid-19 Music Project

During the year 2020, a pandemic known as Covid-19 changed the world as we knew it causing several daily life occurrences to vanish and forcing many to completely change their lifestyles. While this hit many people in different ways, musicians were hit with a situation that made it so we cannot play together anymore, nor could we perform due to a nationwide quarantine. Many might ask what we would do in a situation like this, many musicians instantly jumped to the challenge and began to heavily change the way we view music.

During my time at VCU a big percentage of it was cut off due to Covid-19. I spent half a semester at home a practically a whole year just barely playing in person. Due to this my professor Dr. Ross Walter asked that we jump to the challenge and begin making works we wouldn't traditionally do during this degree. He encouraged us to use technology to record our music and to make big music projects to show off creativity. During this time, I made several projects that I used for my Juries. The most notable of my projects was my first semester of my sophomore year Fall of 2020. I created a video of myself playing the Ferdinand David Concertino movements 1 and 2. In this video I combined several videos and images a green scenery to describe what I picture when I play the piece. There were many other projects I made such as multitrack videos so I could play with different members of the VCU trombone studio.
